Jake Clark’s Mule Days began the Charity Pool in 2006, specifically to remember those who have touched our lives.  We wish to offer various charity awareness for not only the Fight against Cancer, but create better opportunities for the youth to continue their education and make the world we live in better for future generations with support for the 4-H, FFA and college scholarship funds.  We also want to support the preservation of wildlife’s natural habitat where their annual migration corridors may be in jeopardy of urban sprawl and subdivisions through support of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Charity Pool Goal

Jake Clark’s Mule Days has a 9 year history of producing a successful outdoor saddle mule event where attendance has grown substantially each year and the event is known nationwide.  With the strong support from the local and national communities, and with the expected increase in attendance, Mule Days is a great opportunity to bring awareness of how precious our time together is and how we might make better opportunities for our children, our natural surroundings that we enjoy so much and the fight against Cancer.  Our goal is to bring more awareness of the opportunities for donating to the various charities and the benefits that donations would create.

It is said that the average person will be remembered for two family generations.  We hope to help make an opportunity for you to make a difference into the future for more than two generations.

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation—Jake and Kay have been active with the RMEF for over 20 years.  The organization’s mission is to ensure the future of elk and other wildlife and their habitat by conserving, restoring and enhancing natural habitats.  Jake and Kay have both served six years on the Board of Directors for the RMEF.

American Cancer Society—This charity was selected, because many of the local friends and neighbors being affected by cancer.  Kay also is a cancer survivor of 2005. $275 was raised in 2006 for the American Cancer Society.

Wyoming State 4-H Foundation—Kay is currently serving on the State of Wyoming Board for the 4-H Foundation.  4-H has more than 6.5 million youth and over half a million volunteers throughout the U.S.  Wyoming has over 18,000 youth members with over 3,500 volunteers helping create a good basis for the nations youth.  The 4-H mission is to advance the 4-H youth development movement to build a world in which youth and adults learn, grow and work together as catalysts for positive change.

Northwest Community College Foundation (Wyoming Legislature appropriated $4.5 million to Northwest College for the Wyoming Community College Endowment Challenge program.  There will be a match of dollars donated to this fund.  If a donation is made in the amount of $5,000 or more, the donor can designate which college program or academic area the funds should be directed and can have a specific name for that endowment fund donation.)  Northwest College Foundation was established for four principal purposes:  raising, receiving, managing and distributing funds for educational and related endeavors that support and enrich Northwest.

Wyoming State FFA-Nickie Linnabur Memorial Scholarship Fund—for use at Local Chapters, Cody, Powell or Meeteetse.  The event that initiated the implementation of the Nicki Linnabur Memorial Scholarship Fund was when Nickie, a 16-year-old girl, who worked for Mule Days in 2005, was killed in an automobile accident.  She was a very special person and a joy to be around.  Jake had told her (jokingly) one day, “Be here at 6:30 a.m. for work.”  Nickie showed up at 5:45 a.m…..got Jake out of bed!  Served him right!  Getting the best of Jake Clark at his own game doesn’t happen very often.  The family had Nickie’s service held at the ranch, where Nickie was really happy during her last summer.  After the services, the family spread some of Nickie’s ashes in the pasture.  In 2006, we were grateful to a good friend, Brian Valentine and his “Angel’s Nest Ranch”, who initiated a matching fund donation of $2 for every $1 donated.  $17,546 was raised in 2006 toward the Wyoming State FFA-Nickie Linnabur Memorial Scholarship Fund.
